Richard Feyman - Everything Jiggles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zZbX_9ru9U

Nothing is as it seems, hot and cold is simply atoms jiggling at different speeds. Hotter jiggling more, colder jiggling less. Hot thing spreads its heat in surrounding. Jiggling coffee makes coffee cup jiggle which in turn makes saucer jiggling and so on.  Easy to understand.
If you are used to seeing a ball bounce you see it lose energy after a while and come to a stop. We have to imagine atoms with perfect elasticity, they keep on bouncing. Perpetually moving, not losing anything.
Ball bouncing transfers its motion and jiggling to atoms on the floor so it loses its energy to little patches on the floor each time it bounces. When ball stops floor has more jiggling heated up.
Anyone that has hammered on something can feel it warm up. It heats up simply because you are jiggling it.
Drop of water a tight ball, everyone want a partner and it is fighting to get in. Surface tension.
Try to imagine things all the time.
Solid all atoms stuck in place and jiggle… Liquid atoms start rolling over each other. More energy gas, they fight apart and have too much speed to stick together.
Pump air in a tire, air heats up pump.
All these things you notice in the world, you can imagine from these simple pictures.

Atoms like each other to different degrees.
Ball rolling into volcano.
Carbon and oxygen snap together if enough
Snap in and gets a lot of jiggling motion. All these things snapping together. Have to get over a little hill.
Once it get started it keeps on going. Fire.
Comes from a tree. Carbon comes from the air. Trees come out of the air. Carbon dioxide goes into the tree, kicking out the oxygen away from tree and combines with water.
Water comes out of the ground, came from the sky.
Oxygen and carbon stick together really tight.
How does the tree separate the too… it's light that knocks the oxygen away from the carbon.
It takes sunlight to get the plant to work. Oxygen is waste.
Take substance of tree and heat it up and nice light is released, you go back from carbon to carbon dioxide and everything is undone.
The light and heat that comes out is the light and heat of the sun that went in. Stored sun that comes out when you burn the log.
